Our winemaker, Tom O’Donnell, has given us his views on what the 2016 wines look like so far:
2016 started off warm and dry in January and early February. Timely light rain events and consistent cool evenings kept the leaf on the vines healthy and vivid; hence great zippy acid is a common trait of 2016 wines!
Another year of lower yielding reds show great colour and chewy tannins – as well as a constant mid palette brightness.
Wines from 2016 are rounded, textural with moderate alcohol content, yet depth and complexity. I can’t wait to see these wines progress over the next 10 years!
